In part one of this episode, they discuss what mold is and what a mold problem actually looks like. Mold is everywhere, inside and outside. But when the inside air is more toxic than the outside, that’s a problem.
When it comes to mold inspections, finding a good inspector is key. They should complete a thorough investigation that covers all of the bases, including active growth, source of the problem, and all contaminates.
We also go over what proper remediation should look like, and how fogging is not a technique that will solve a mold problem. It doesn’t remove the molds from the roots or deal with other contaminants like mycotoxins.
Choosing proper cleaning products is also highly important when dealing with indoor mold issues. Many products aren’t as effective as they promote, so finding the ones that do work can be difficult. There’s currently a large disparity in authenticity. We go over a few issues with the current industry and ways to find products that actually work.
Identifying mold problems and treating them properly is so important for our health and a subject often overlooked in society. Taking a different angle and focusing on environmental factors in regard to treating health conditions should be the way forward. We chat about how we all should focus on bringing more awareness to air quality, whether an individual owns a home or is renting.
We also touch on the history of mold awareness and potential reasons as to why more attention isn’t being paid to such an important issue.
